Alliance to Nurture, Grow and Enhance Life
Skills (ANGELS) for Foster Families
In March of 2008, the Junior League of
Clearwater-Dunedin selected a new project focusing our efforts and resources to
assist foster families in Pinellas and PascoCounties for at least three years. This focus was selected as a result of the
strategic planning process and membership input.
Targeting our focus area of foster teens, there are two committees assigned - short and long term. ANGELS short-term members develop and
organize "Done in a Day" (DIAD) and "Done in a Meeting"
(DIAM) projects that directly benefit our local foster youth and foster
organizations. Our long-term, or ANGELS Signature Project members are
working to implement our recently chosen community project of developing a
foster teen training center. The center will be located in PinellasCounty, and will offer foster teens training in subjects such as health,
social, financial, career planning and community skills. Eckerd Youth Alternatives, the organization
contracted by the state to operate the foster care system, would house offices
and manage training at the facility.
To accomplish this important project for our
community, significant funding is needed to acquire property to use as a
training facility.Please consider
becoming a sponsor or making a donation for this much-needed cause.
