PROJECTS
Volunteer Management and Coordination
- Coordinate with local schools and social service agencies
- Develop a volunteer opportunity calendar
JLCD is currently focusing on students at Tarpon Springs Elementary School and Sandy Lane Elementary School
Pack-A-Snack
Many kids in Pinellas County have been going home from school to an empty fridge. JLCD is taking action to ensure that more kids have something to eat at Tarpon Springs Elementary. Every month we pack 192 Pack-A-Snacks that will feed 48 economically challenged elementary school children every weekend for the month.
Hurricane Maria Relief
JLCD collected donations for hurricane relief to help Puerto Rico recover from the devastation of Hurricane Maria.
Great American Teach-In
Members volunteer during school hours at Tarpon Springs Elementary School or Sandy Lane Elementary School to share information about their profession with students.
St. Petersburg College Community Resource Fair
Donate books and connect people to community resources.
Book Events
Hold themed book events at Tarpon Springs Elementary and Sandy Lane Elementary schools that will include reading, crafts and snacks.
Cereal for Summer
The JLCD has partnered with 10 News WTSP and Feeding Tampa Bay to help feed needy families during the summer.
Done in a Day (DIAD) Projects
The Done-in-a-Day (DIAD) program manages requests for volunteers on short-term projects within the service area of the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin. The Community ANGELS committee works with current and past League programs as well as charities and community organizations that are not otherwise connected to the League. Consideration is given to groups within the League’s strategic focus of the Alliance to Nurture Grow and Enhance Life Skills (ANGELS) for children in the foster system and must related directly to foster children and families. To be considered, the request must come from a non-profit organization and be for a single event or project.
An application must be submitted at least 8 weeks in advance of the project date. A committee member will contact the organization to discuss details of how JLCD can help and to ensure that we can meet the needs of the organization for the particular event. Please see the DIAD guidelines for more information.
We look forward to working with you toward strengthening our communities!
Past Projects
In addition to the programs and projects currently provided to the communities of Northern Pinellas County, the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin has supported other programs with dollars and volunteers. While this is not a comprehensive list of all of the projects we have participated in, it does highlight some of our achievements and illustrates our commitment to making a difference in the communities where our members live.
